Gospel minister, Oshaji Oluwakemi Sarah, popularly known as Apekeola, has stated that her songs come from no specific themes, rather than from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and sometimes what she is passing through.

Apekeola, known for Ogbogofolemi hit song, in her interview noted that she was at her lowest ebb when God showed up for her as a street food vendor and projected her to the world.

The gospel minister’s fusion of traditional melodies and beats projects her cultural uniqueness, especially to the Yoruba people of Nigeria.

She said, “I have been singing right from my childhood; I started from singing in church choir; then I started backing up for some people and at the same time, we were going to shows if I was chanced.”

Speaking on Ogbogofolemi, she said, “When I was at my lowest ebb, God showed up for me, I was a street food vendor but GOD showed up and here I am today. Apart from my first album, Ara in 2018, my other albums are; Ogbogofolemi and Aye Ope yo.”

“There is a saying that behind every successful man, there is a woman but mine is vice versa; behind me is God and then my husband; he is my main supporter at times when I get fed up, he will be the one to be encouraging me not to give up.”

“They shouldn’t give up and they shouldn’t sell their body for little or temporary profit. There aren’t specific themes around my song; it comes from inspiration and the Holy Spirit and sometimes what I am passing through.”
